About Gunplay

Richard Morales Jr. aka Gunplay was born in a military hospital in El Paso, Texas, which gives the young rapper cause to state, I was born a soldier. Gunplay is the son of two enlisted parents; a Puerto Rican father and a Jamaican mother, so it was perhaps a forgone conclusion that this hot mix of island bloods, fostered in military surroundings would ultimately fuel the furious MCs fiery prose and militant mindset. Although stationed in Texas, Gunplays people are both natives of New York and by the time he was three they had all moved back to the Big Apple. But young Gun wouldnt have sufficient time to connect with his mom and dads stomping grounds before he and his mother would make their way south. The two ended up in the city of Miramar in southern Florida, bordering the strife stricken Carol City section of Miami-Dade. The absence of a father, combined with the presence of poverty, meant that it wouldnt be long before Gunplay was spending most of his time running the rough streets of Carol City where he became entangled in desperations web of drugs and destruction. He was just into high school when he became caught up in the fast pace of Miamis troubled streets, ultimately quitting school without surpassing even the 9th grade.

The next few years he would be un-recallable for the Maybach Music lieutenant as drugs would take over his life. Unable to retain her grip, his mother watched helplessly as her son slipped further and further away. Remembering this period Gunplay states, I never obeyed the rules. Through elementary I was cool [but] once I got to middle school, all hell broke loose. I caught my first charge at 13. I was just gone, I was smokin weed and snortin cocaine. I was lost, my life was a blur. I just remember being out there in the streets and doin what Im doin. My relationship with my mother deteriorated then I got married at 23, tryin to do the right thing by my son and his mom, but then my marriage deteriorated.Now newly drug free and fully focused on his future the noted Triple C representative has a whole new work ethic as well as the hot new hit Rollina that has pushed him out of the shadow of his benefactor and landed him squarely in the ranks of the Hard Rock 12.

Triple C's, also known as Carol City Cartel, is a hip hop group founded by Rick Ross. It includes members Gunplay (born Richard Morales) from Miami, Torch (born Kevin Belnavis) from the Bronx, and Young Breed. They have been featured on Rick Ross' first two albums Port of Miami and Trilla. Additionally, Gunplay appeared on Ross's third studio album Deeper Than Rap.Their first studio album, Custom Cars & Cycles, was released October 27. Gunplay's Armed Robbery Case Dismissed

Gunplay, was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault he turned himself in to authorities last October, and was placed under house arrest. If convicted on both counts he could of faced life in jail. According to TMZ, Gunplay's case was dismissed because the victim refused to cooperate, as authorities tried to subpoena him they were unsuccessful of finding him.
